Not taking into consideration school acceptance processing time, the study permit application duration is contingent on the personal supplementary documents you will need to provide in order to support your application. Some of the documents may take you longer to acquire than others. In general, the collection of all the needed documents may take between one month to two months maximum. Depending on the country where you are applying from, the embassy application processing time may take up 6 weeks from the time your application was submitted.

Every educational institution requires international students to provide an academic proficiency test that fulfil their specific program requirements, or to take their English as a Second Language (ESL) program. For study permit application purposes, proficiency testing is not mandatory, however should you decide to apply without it you may risk not being accepted.
